ABC was founded By Edward Skomorucha in 1946. Ed and his wife Betty opened their first store located on the lower east side of Wilmington. At the time it was a prime location on the only road that leads to Philadelphia. Being firmly rooted in the Polish community, they quickly developed a loyal following of customers. Ed focused on his wartime skills as a radio technician to provide repair and sales of radios which, at the time, was still a major source of home entertainment. He followed into the TV revolution and was a proud vendor of Philco and Zenith among other brands.
His son George learned the business and continued ABC’s progression into major home appliances. Brands like Gibson, Kelvinator, and Maytag which branched into Subzero, Kitchen Aid, and Amana. Ed and his son George, with the help of many family members, pushed the little appliance store into the 20th century. The little storefront made the leap to their large store room in 1996 where they currently reside off Greenhill Ave. In 2004 George retired handing the reins to his sons, Matthew and Stephen who, to this day, are operating the store with the same core values of their father and grandfather.

ABC Sales & Service Leadership
Brothers Matthew and Stephen run the day to day operations, Matthew handles sales and Stephen service. They have invaluable support from their staff which in many cases have been with ABC for years. The amount of dedicated years of experience in all departments adds up to a great buying experience. The staff of service and delivery to the office and sales force all have the training and expertise to help customers with their unique appliance needs

Matthew started working full time with his father in the late 80’s. Delivery, install and sales, Matthew found his niche working and talking with clients and has run the sales department ever since. He is committed to the same core values and hard work that his grandfather and father followed throughout their careers. He enjoys his wife, sons, and family on the weekends and is committed to seeing ABC into the future.
Stephen Skomorucha
Director of Service
Stephen also started his career with ABC at a young age. He found his calling in service and has run the service department since partnering with his brother in 2004. His years of experience and commitment to customer service has always been one of ABC greatest assets. Steve also enjoys his wife and family and is hoping to continue the family business to the next generation.
